La Svolta

La Svolta is an illustrated book, where words and images merge together in order to achieve an emotional effect.
The story I chose to illustrate is La svolta by Francesca Caliolo. She wrote this letter imagining the thoughts of her husband, Antonio Mingolla, during his last working hours. He was the deputy site manager at Ilva of Taranto, the largest steel plant in Italy. I illustrated some parts of the letter trying to convey emotions through a combination of text and images. Photos ( by Pigi Cipelli) are manipulated in Photoshop, using red and the black colors as leitmotiv to communicate strong sensations.
